RISING Festival - A Call To Artists
RISING is a festival that starts when this incredibly long day ends. It’s a surge of art, music and ceremony in the heart of Melbourne. At the rise of the full moon on 26 May 2021, interlocking circles of experience and connection will radiate through the night, as the city re-synchronises.
RISING wants your ideas about what a festival for our future can be. Whether you want to respond to the times or ignore them completely, we want to hear what you have in mind.
We have been collectively forced to reflect on our world as it has been and to contemplate potential new worlds. Old worlds and hidden worlds have been drawn into focus. RISING is calling for artists of Victoria to respond to this with ambitious ideas for art that could only happen in a festival context.
This Call to Artists seeks proposals for new work from creative individuals, collectives or companies. We are not a funding body. We are looking for ideas suited to a contemporary cultural festival experience. We are particularly interested in ideas that may not work within more conventional arts environments.
