In 1992, John Paxinos was having a conversation with Arts Victoria about a recently funded project of theirs having run off the rails. The budget was in chaos and there was a messy WorkCover claim to deal with.
In response to this need for support within the independent arts sector, Auspicious Arts Projects Inc. was established as a not for profit organisation that would provide artists with a secure and accessible management framework to assist them with creative developments and producing new work.
22 years later, Auspicious has grown to provide financial and administrative management for individual artists, projects, festivals, small companies, community groups and city councils, helping to manage between $5 and $6 million on behalf of Australian artists each year.
Our aim at Auspicious is to provide you with all the security and advantages of working with a larger organisation, whilst you remain independent and in control of your work.
We provide assistance with the day-to-day management and administration of the project, including looking after budgets, artist agreements, payments, invoicing, payroll, superannuation, worker’s insurance and claims and GST/tax compliance.
We auspice both government grants and non-funded projects and artistic income and we can guide you to the most likely sources of funding and support for your project.
With over 20 years of industry experience, we’ve worked with projects across the complete independent arts spectrum. We understand that projects evolve and budgets can change - at Auspicious we are expert problem solvers and can offer advice and support at any stage of your project.
