AUSPICIOUS ARTS BOARD

Auspicious Arts Board Members are:

SUE HUNT (president)

Sue Hunt has been the CEO of The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation since July 2010.  Prior to this Sue was Founding Chief Executive Officer of contemporary arts space and arts business hub, CarriageWorks, Sydney (2006-2010); Director of Performing Arts for the Sydney Opera House (2003-06); General Manager of the Queensland Theatre Company (1999-2003) and General Manager of the Geelong Performing Arts Centre (1995-99).  She is a director of Melbourne International Arts Festival and Auspicious Arts Projects.

Sue holds a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Melbourne and has held a number of board memberships across a variety of arts and government organisations. She is an alumna of the Strategic Perspectives in Non Profit Management course at Harvard Business School, the AICD Company Directors’ Course, the Williamson Community Leadership Program, Leadership Victoria (1995) and the Harvard Club Fellowship Program.

JOHN PAXINOS (Treasurer)

John commenced his career in Arts Management in 1980 in Albury-Wodonga with the fledgling Murray River Performing Group and Flying Fruit Fly Circus. In 1985-6 he was awarded a fellowship by The Australia Council and Creative Victoria to study strategies for establishing and managing arts companies. This led to the establishment of an arts management consulting practice, and in 1992 the creation of Auspicious Arts Projects Inc. John has worked with over 100 different arts organisations and in addition to being Executive Director of Auspicious, undertakes a variety of consulting work and is a partner in Paxinos & Habash Arts Tax.

SELENE BATEMAN

Selene Bateman is a highly regarded arts administrator, producer and project manager who has worked in the creative sector for nearly 20 years. She has produced animated tv series, queer cabarets and comedy shows for children. As a senior client manager at Auspicious, she has worked with hundreds of artists across art forms and career stages, helping them navigate the funding landscape, providing strategic advice and assisting in the management of their projects.  

MELANIE BURGE

Melanie Burge is an arts producer and project manager based in Melbourne, Australia. She is Associate Producer at APAM (Australian Performing Arts Market). She has worked in programming, producing and operational roles for organisations including Melbourne International Arts Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Arts Projects Australia, Adelaide City Council, Brisbane Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival, Christchurch Arts Festival, and Ten Days on the Island.

SALLI LONGMUIR

On graduating from VCA, Salli joined the Melbourne Comedy Festival in an administrative and production capacity. After gaining experience across a few festivals Salli moved to The Last Laugh as Box Office Manager and had the opportunity to co-program Le Joke.

Salli then freelanced before landing a role at Primate Productions.  Salli took over the boutique booking agency a year later. Primate specialised in the creation and management of programs for major events and booking agency for the corporate sector, festivals and private functions. Salli worked directly with an extensive artist register to create performance opportunities and initiate new works. Salli is now in wholesale travel working for a luxury travel brand.

SUZANNE DALEY

Suzanne Daley has worked in the arts sector in a community and professional capacity for 25 years. She co-founded a community theatre for young people in the Western suburbs of Melbourne and spent a decade nurturing the next generation of performers, technicians and creatives.  

Her professional career in the arts includes 13 years at Live Performance Australia, where she led work on industry policy, research and advocacy, and managed major projects in sector capacity building and environmental sustainability. Suzanne joined the team at Arts Centre Melbourne in 2015, and worked with the Trust and Executive team on creating the ten year Strategic Plan, rebuilding risk and policy frameworks and developing the business case for Reimagining Arts Centre Melbourne. Suzanne now leads the Major Giving team and works with donors to match their philanthropic passions to the mission and purpose of Arts Centre Melbourne.    

Suzanne is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the University of Melbourne (BA (Hons)/LLB) and has extensive experience as a Board Secretariat. She has been a proud Board member of Auspicious Arts since 2011.
